A resilient wallet infrastructure shouldn’t have to rely on a single point of availability. Adding validator redundancy gives you greater continuity, helping ensure users can keep transacting even if one validator becomes unavailable.
On Canton, this also means having the right infrastructure to maintain transaction history and availability without relying on a single validator to be continuously operational.
That's the single point of failure we've now removed.
What's changed
Kiln is now live with co-validation on Canton Mainnet, enabling customers to deploy resilient 2 of 3 validator infrastructure.
- High availability: zero transaction downtime
- Redundancy: if one validator drops, the others keep processing seamlessly, no recovery process for end users to sign off on
Why this matters
Canton was built as enterprise-grade infrastructure for institutional finance. Co-validation extends this promise, with decentralized redundancy layered onto enterprise-grade design. Call it next-generation blockchain architecture, built for institutions that can't tolerate downtime.
For institutions, redundancy is already standard practice across critical infrastructure. The same principle should apply to blockchain architecture: if an application is expected to be available 24/7, its underlying validator infrastructure should be designed with the same resilience.
Co-validation brings that familiar approach to Canton, allowing institutions to build redundancy into their blockchain infrastructure from the outset — just as they would for any other mission-critical application
New co-validation capabilities were recently contributed to Canton by DA (Digital Asset). Along with DA, Kiln is first to take advantage, with a co-validation solution live and already in production with major ecosystem players, including Ledger.
Kiln is a Super Validator on Canton Network, offering white-labeled validator infrastructure for institutions building on Canton. If you want to know more, please check out our previous blog post.
