Tetra Trust deploys staking functionality with Kiln

Tetra Trust, Canada’s only licensed custody solution for digital assets, is rolling out staking functionality through their partnership with Kiln.

Starting today, Tetra Trust customers can stake their assets with Kiln on the main Proof-of-Stake blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Cardano and Tezos, contributing to network security and earning staking rewards as compensation.

Staking completes Tetra Trust’s offerings in addition to bridges with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and allows their customers to benefit from the safest and most predictable way to earn rewards in the crypto space.

Why did Tetra trust choose to work with Kiln?

As a licensed custody solution in Canada, Tetra Trust is required to partner with trusted and established providers that share the same high standards. At Kiln, we relentlessly work to reach the highest levels of operational excellence, meeting institutional and corporate customers’ requirements. Our track record is proof of this excellence, managing more than $2b worth of staked assets flawlessly.

It is important to remember that at Kiln, we are focused on the best security and expertise level behind each of the products that we deliver. The result is the most advanced and secure enterprise-grade staking solution for institutions to maximize their risk/reward efficiency. Like Tetra Trust, Kiln is an SOC 2 Type II certified company, and our staking smart contracts are audited by several first-class auditors.

Another decisive criterion in choosing Kiln was the native integration with Ledger Enterprise, enabling Tetra Trust to leverage Kiln staking infrastructure instantly, without any custom development or integration.

‘We are delighted to offer our customers staking opportunities thanks to our collaboration  with Kiln. Not only does Kiln brilliantly meet our security and technical requirements, their native integration with Ledger Enterprise also removed the need for any additional operations and development.’  Didier Lavallée - Tetra Trust CEO

‘We strive to enable institutions to access staking. Being our first enterprise-grade custodian partner in Canada, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Tetra Trust, with whom we share common values.’  Laszlo Szabo - CEO and co-founder at Kiln

Understanding the staking opportunity

In PoS blockchains, staking consists of locking native tokens to earn the right to help secure the chain via a validator. Validators review and approve blocks proposed by other validators, and bundle transactions together to propose new blocks when they are selected to do so. Through these activities, validators earn rewards for stakers who commit part of their assets.

Staking is therefore considered to be the most natural way to earn rewards in the crypto space as the rewards stem from helping secure the chain. Rewards are paid out from the protocol’s inflation and a share of transaction fees.

By staking, token holders can earn rewards and grow their digital asset holdings. Staking plays a crucial role in network security, governance, and contributes to the growth of the Web3 ecosystem as a whole.
