OKCoin Japan (OKJ) went live as a validator on Canton Network, running on Kiln's infrastructure. OKJ – the Japanese entity of OK Group and a Financial Services Agency-registered cryptocurrency exchange – now validates transactions on Canton while Kiln handles the technical operations.

This marks another institutional player entering Canton's validator ecosystem through Kiln's platform. For a regulated Japanese exchange, it's a way to participate in Canton Network's quickly growing momentum without building the stack from scratch.

How it works

As a Super Validator on Canton, Kiln runs critical network infrastructure and provides the platform for institutions to operate validator nodes. The setup removes the operational complexity that typically keeps regulated entities on the sidelines.

OKJ plugs into Kiln's platform:

  • Kiln running battle-tested infrastructure, with the milestone of $16B in delegated assets across 50,000+ validator nodes reached in 2025
  • Automated validator operations, yield management, and data tracking allow OKJ to simplify its own operations
"Our platform enables institutional players like OKJ to participate in Canton's ecosystem with enterprise-grade security and reliability. This is exactly the kind of institutional adoption Canton was built for and we are seeing a lot of demand for it." — Laszlo Szabo, Co-Founder and CEO at Kiln
Participating as a validator on Canton Network represents an important step for OKJ in advancing blockchain infrastructure for institutional finance in Japan. Through our partnership with Kiln, we gain access to proven institutional-grade infrastructure that enables us to participate meaningfully in this ecosystem and contribute to building robust blockchain infrastructure for Japanese investors. — Zhongyang Feng, CEO of OKJ

Canton's institutional play

Canton's the only public blockchain purpose-built for institutional finance. Privacy and compliance are core to the architecture, allowing individual apps to be permissionless or permissioned. The network handles real-time synchronization and settlement across asset classes, governed by the Canton Foundation alongside major financial institutions.

For institutions, that architecture allows getting the benefits of a decentralized network without compromising on the regulatory requirements they're bound by.
