Open-sourcing our Cosmos Validator Watcher

Open-sourcing our Cosmos Validator Watcher

At Kiln, we've consistently stood at the forefront of blockchain infrastructure. We take pride in empowering the community with the internally developed tools we use daily.

Sharing our innovations isn't just a gesture; it's our way of promoting greater decentralization and resilience across the blockchain networks that millions rely on.

After introducing Kiln’s Ethereum Validator Watcher and Bageth.xyz, we're thrilled to unveil our latest open-source gem: the Cosmos Validator Watcher. Tailored specifically for the Cosmos ecosystem, this tool is set to streamline monitoring and interaction with Cosmos-based blockchains and validators.

Designed to meet enterprise-grade specifications, this tool is a Prometheus exporter that helps anyone running a validator on a Cosmos-based blockchain to ensure the well-being of their operations.

Features that set the Cosmos Validator Watcher apart:

1. Universal monitoring for all Cosmos-based blockchains: With the Cosmos Validator Watcher, you can monitor any blockchain using the CometBFT library (Tendermint’s successor). This ensures comprehensive coverage and flexibility across all Cosmos-based blockchains.

2. Never miss a block signature again: The tool diligently monitors missed block signatures in real time, ensuring your validators are always on their toes and any potential issues are flagged immediately.

3. Track the active set of validators easily: With the Cosmos Validator Watcher, you can effortlessly track the active set of validators, including bonded and jailed states. This feature always keeps you in the loop about the status and health of validators within the network.

4. Export metrics at your convenience: Need to analyze or share your findings? The tool allows you to export those vital metrics, making data analysis and reporting a breeze.

5. Open to extension: The Cosmos Validator Watcher is designed to be extended with new metrics and capabilities. Some of the upcoming features include vote monitoring to ensure we don't miss any proposals, as well as the ability to trigger custom actions based on upcoming upgrades. This last feature will allow us to automate the upgrade process in a GitOps environment where a tool like Cosmovisor doesn't fit well.

Open-Source and Community-Driven

Staying true to our commitment to transparency and community collaboration, we've open-sourced the Cosmos Validator Watcher under the MIT license. This means that developers and enthusiasts can freely contribute, modify, and distribute the tool, fostering a community-driven approach to its evolution and improvement.

As Cosmos-based blockchains continue to grow in popularity and significance, tools like the Cosmos Validator Watcher will be instrumental in ensuring their stability, security, and success. Join us in this exciting journey of innovation and community empowerment. Together, we're reshaping the future of blockchain technology.
